David’s Bio

Edge Group Scotland’s Director of Operations & Finance

David brings a formidable academic and professional background to his role. He holds an MSc with Distinction in Autism Research, a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, a BSc in Chemistry, a Diploma in Education, an SVQ3 in Health & Social Care, and a COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills. He is currently undertaking his SVQ4 in Health & Social Care Leadership and studying for a Level 2 qualification in Accountancy and Bookkeeping. This breadth of qualifications reflects not only his commitment to professional development but also a deep understanding of the diverse needs of our sector.

David has been with Edge for eight years, and in that time, he has played a vital role in stabilising and futureproofing our operational model. His analytical mindset, sharp problem-solving skills, and pragmatic approach to financial planning have brought about tangible improvementsβ€”from increased efficiency and robust budgeting systems to stronger relationships with external funders and partners.

More importantly, David has never seen finance as separate from care. He understands that sound financial decisions must be grounded in values that protect the integrity and impact of our work. His keen understanding of the social care sector, paired with his adherence to safeguarding responsibilities, regulatory standards, and legislative frameworks, ensures that every operational decision is made with care, compliance, and client wellbeing in mind.

David also leads on health and safety across the organisation, taking a proactive, detail-oriented approach to compliance and risk management. His ability to uphold accountability, embed effective systems, and align operations with best practice has helped secure our reputation as a provider that doesn’t compromise on standards.

In his new role as Finance & Operations Director, David oversees finance, property management, systems improvement, and operational delivery across all sites. He is a passionate advocate for Edge as a sector-leading organisation, and his focus remains on creating the conditions in which our teamβ€”and the young adults we supportβ€”can thrive.
