Edge Group Scotland Achieves Living Hours Accreditation
TeamEdge outside our Day Services Building
We are proud to share that Edge Group Scotland has been officially accredited as a Living Hours Employer—a significant step forward in our commitment to fair work and long-term wellbeing for our team.
This new accreditation builds upon our existing status as a Living Wage Employer, recognising that while paying a real Living Wage is essential, so too is providing secure, predictable hours. The Living Hours standard was developed to address the rise of insecure work, ensuring people have the stability they need to plan their lives with confidence.
One of the Few - and Proud
Edge Group Scotland is proud to be one of only three social care providers in Scotland, and one of just ten across the entire UK, to be accredited with both the Living Wage and Living Hours status. This rare distinction underscores our deep commitment to fair work and highlights our position as a sector leader in promoting secure pay and hours. We are beyond proud of this recognition, which reflects not only our dedication to the wellbeing of our team, but also our role in setting higher standards across the social care sector.
Edge Group Scotland is Proudly Accredited as both A Living Wage & A Living Hours Employer
What Living Hours Means at Edge Group Scotland
As a Living Hours Employer, Edge Group Scotland ensures that all directly employed staff and any regular third-party contracted staff within scope of the accreditation receive:
At least four weeks' notice for shifts
A contract that reflects the hours they regularly work
A guaranteed minimum of 16 hours per week, unless fewer are requested
This commitment applies not only to our own employees, but also to those working on our contracts via third-party providers, such as cleaning and administrative support services. We are actively working with our providers to ensure these standards are implemented for all eligible contracted staff.
We also understand that flexibility remains important for some individuals. Where requested, staff may choose to opt out of certain Living Hours measures—such as the 16-hour minimum—if it better suits their personal circumstances.
Why This Matters
By becoming a Living Hours Employer, we are reinforcing our belief that fair work is about more than pay alone. Predictable hours and income are vital to building a secure life, supporting wellbeing and enabling people to meet their financial and personal commitments with confidence.
“Our Living Hours accreditation demonstrates our continued commitment to doing right by our people. Fair pay and secure work are the foundations of a resilient and motivated team—and that’s good for our team and the communities we serve.”
— David Myers, Director of Operations & Finance, Edge Group Scotland
We’re incredibly proud to be part of a growing movement of employers across Scotland who are leading by example—showing that responsible employment practices are not only possible, but essential.
